There's something beautiful about a line of food trucks serving up their specialties. Wish you could make your voice heard about your favorites? You can (if you hurry)! Food Truck Elections are still going on down at Zauber Brewing Company in Grandview. Receive your ballot on the way in, feast on great food, and cast your votes.
Chelsey and I arrived soon after the food trucks opened for business. We both spent ample time deciding what we wanted, but it wasn't so easy as it has been in the past. This time, each truck has a "chef's choice" category for the elections; this is considered a special dish - anything under $4.
I sought out The Green Meanie, and what else to order for my first trip there but...The Green Meanie itself! It's a fantastic panko-crusted chicken croquette with all sorts of good stuff on it. Check out their menu, below (left-click to enlarge).
Everything about this dish is perfect, and I almost went back to order a second. That would be cheating, though! I needed to try something different. Fortunately, I also ordered some fries, which come with this scallion aioli that really tied the room together...wait, I meant it was great with the spuds.
Chelsey ordered "The Vintage" from Sophie's Pierogis; it's a "classic crispy Pierogi filled with potato and sour cream. Side of sour cream and grain mustard tarragon butter and cast iron caramelized onions." I don't know about all of that, but I do know what it was: delicious.

Next, I ordered Tatoheads' chef's special: Jerk Chicken Fries. Here's a description:
Sound good? It better, because it was awesome. Tatoheads makes the best sweet potato fries, and they're good enough on their own. Add all of those awesome toppings, and include the fact that it's only $4...baby, you got a stew goin'. Sorry, I mean...you've got yourself a great dish!
Tatoheads' chef's special on bottom, Chelsey's grilled cheese is on top.
For Chelsey's second dish, she ordered a goat cheese grilled cheese from the Cheesy Truck. I'd honestly say it's the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had. It makes me feel guilty making mine at home with Kraft singles.
Lastly, we needed some dessert (as if we weren't stuffed enough already!). Pitabilities had what we needed: fried cinnamon pita chips with a raspberry drizzle. I mentioned these before when I got them for FTF#9. Just as good this time as they were before. I mean, c'mon...just look at them:
To reiterate, I love these gatherings of food trucks. As always, I'd like to thank Zauber brewing for offering to host them. Don't forget to grab a beer or two from them while you eat! I forgot, because I was so interested in the food.
If you're still reading this, get down to Zauber and cast your vote! Oh, and eat tons of great food for me.
